There’s always something going on at Daviess County Public Library. Here is a list of events happening through the end of June:
Every Wednesday from June 15-July 20 @ 5:30 p.m. Sit and Knit
Join the Settle Memorial Knitters to either learn how to knit or to meet with fellow knitters. Knitters will be present who can teach knitting to beginners. Knitters of all skill level are encouraged to attend.
June 16 @ 3 p.m. HistoryMobile: Torn Within and Threatened Without
Scholarship meets the graphic novel. That describes “Torn Within and Threatened Without: Kentuckians in the Civil War” the current exhibit in the Kentucky Historical Society’s HistoryMobile. Artifacts allow people to touch the past and interactive components let them step into the historical figures’ shoes.
June 21 @ 9 a.m. and @ 3 p.m. Tuesday Tech Training: Welcome to the Internet
DCPL is now offering basic technology training series. Pre-registration required.
June 22 @ 2 p.m. Let’s Go Camping
Grab your gear and come along on an adventure with us! We will have crafts and other activities.
June 23@ 5:30 p.m. Community Conversations with the Human Relations Commissions
The Human Relations Commission will host an open forum to discuss a specific lifestyle. The focus of the forum for this month will be Conservatism.
June 25 @ 10 a.m. Law Day
The DCPL and the Daviess County Bar Association present Law Day at the Library. Customers can come and sign up to meet with a lawyer for a 30-minute session. These appointments are first come, first serve.
June 28@ 1 p.m. Teen Coding Day
Whether you’re a computer novice or an experienced coder, come and join us at the library for our first ever Teen Coding Day! We will be using Raspberry Pi computers to build apps, design computer video games and learn programming basics. Pre-registration is required.
June 29@ 2 p.m. and repeat @ 3 p.m. Mr. Bond and the Science Guys
Hand-eye coordination experiments, lung capacity, Bernoulli’s principle, balancing miracles, the sweet spot on rackets, aerodynamics and much more! Mr. Bond and his amazing team of Mad Scientists are ready to get you excited about science!
June 29 @ 6 p.m. Barnstorming with J. D. Wilkes
Kentucky author J. D. Wilkes will be discussing his book Barn Dances & Jamborees Across Kentucky, and playing banjo tunes from his own repertoire.
June 30 @ 6 p.m. Wild Mountain Thyme presents Americana Patriotic Music.
Join us as Wild Mountain Thyme pays tribute to America’s birthday with special selections of patriotic music.
