Brescia University signed the first five recruits for the brand new eSports program set to begin in the 2017-2018 school year. The following students signed to play for Brescia University:
- Gavin Jennings- Apollo High School, Owensboro, Kentucky
- Joseph Knutz IV- Owensboro High School, Owensboro, Kentucky
- Isaac Arnold- Owensboro Catholic High School, Owensboro, Kentucky
- Ramon Rocha- Owensboro Community and Technical College, Owensboro, Kentucky
- Phillip Moorman- Owensboro Community and Technical College, Owensboro, Kentucky
Brescia University announced the addition of an eSports program at the beginning of the year and will be one of only two private schools in the Commonwealth to offer eSports as a varsity sport in the 2017-2018 school year.
eSports is an emerging form of competitive gaming and Brescia University will be offering scholarships to incoming students recruited to participate in the sport. The program will include games such as League of Legends and Overwatch, with additional games added as the program develops. The students representing Brescia University for eSports will compete against NCAA Division 1 schools at the varsity level in a variety of competitive matches.
