Brescia Graduate to Continue Basketball Career Overseas

Brescia University graduate, Jermain Langley ’16, has committed to play professional basketball in Hannover, Germany. Langley, a 6’3 guard from Henderson, Kentucky, will be one of two American players on the roster.

The opportunity came after Langley attracted the eye of Michael Stinnett, a pro scout for European leagues, at a summer camp he attended in Louisville.

“Michael has kept up with me and a couple of other players over the years,” Langley said. “He conducts pro camps where players who want to go overseas can go and play. He records all the games and sends them out. He also conducts a workshop to help us learn about the process.”

Langley expects to play 30-plus minutes a game for the Hannover Korbjäger with hopes of moving up to a bigger league. The team, located in northern Germany, currently competes in the Regionalliga.

“My expectations are to become a better player during this experience,” stated Langley. “I also want to help the team as much as possible while winning. I am looking forward to experiencing a new country and continuing to play basketball at one of the highest levels I can.”

Langley is a 2012 graduate of Henderson County High School and was a starter for four years at Brescia University. During his time as a Bearcat, Langley made an impact with 1,290 career points, 105 three-point field goals made and 590 rebounds. His senior year in the 2015-16 season, he exceeded all of his previous stats with career-high numbers.

Langley ranked number two in Division II in assists per game with an average of 6.581 and ranked number 4 in the division in total assists with an ending stat of 204 total for the year. He routinely scored double-digit points each game for the Bearcats.

Langley credits The Brescia Difference as his inspiration.

“The Brescia Difference meant to me that [as the saying goes] in order to want something you’ve never had, you must do something you have never done,” he stated in an interview. “My teammates and coaches at Brescia University really helped prepare me for this journey. I was considered a leader at Brescia for four years and had a lot of responsibilities while playing there. The coaches and players really believed and trusted in me.”

Langley will travel to Hannover in late September with the Hannover Korbjäger’s season beginning in early October.

“Jermain had a great basketball career here at Brescia University and holds a lot of individual records. He is very passionate about the game and we wish him continued success at the professional level,” stated Brian Skortz, Athletic Director at Brescia University.
