UPDATE (5/13): Kentucky State Police just released the following information:
An autopsy of the unknown deceased woman who was found near Little Hurricane Boat Ramp (outside Owensboro) was concluded today in Louisville.
Kentucky State Police detectives have identified the woman as Darcy L. Hess, 51 of Cannelton, Indiana.
The investigation is still in the early phases; however, detectives are very confident this particular case is unrelated to the two other bodies located in the Ohio River this week.
With the assistance of the medical examiner, evidence obtained and multiple interviews, KSP detectives say foul play is not suspected in her death. Detectives are looking into the real possibility that suicide is the likely cause.
UPDATE #2: Autopsy report indicates the male body pulled from the river suffered a gunshot wound in the head, as well as ligature marks around the neck.
The report also says the man was a white male, 5 ft 7 in tall.
The condition of the body was conducive with having been in the water an extensive period of time.
The investigation continues in an effort to determine if the other two cases of female bodies recovered are related.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to coordinate with Coroner’s Office and Indiana State Police. Information has also been shared with Law Enforcement Agencies in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio requesting information on missing persons, as well as the Department of Homeland Security.
