UPDATE (5/13): Kentucky State Police just released the following information:

An autopsy of the unknown deceased woman who was found near Little Hurricane Boat Ramp (outside Owensboro) was concluded today in Louisville.

Kentucky State Police detectives have identified the woman as Darcy L. Hess, 51 of Cannelton, Indiana.

The investigation is still in the early phases; however, detectives are very confident this particular case is unrelated to the two other bodies located in the Ohio River this week.

With the assistance of the medical examiner, evidence obtained and multiple interviews, KSP detectives say foul play is not suspected in her death. Detectives are looking into the real possibility that suicide is the likely cause.

UPDATE #2: Autopsy report indicates the male body pulled from the river suffered a gunshot wound in the head, as well as ligature marks around the neck.

The report also says the man was a white male, 5 ft 7 in tall.

The condition of the body was conducive with having been in the water an extensive period of time.

The investigation continues in an effort to determine if the other two cases of female bodies recovered are related.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to coordinate with Coroner’s Office and Indiana State Police. Information has also been shared with Law Enforcement Agencies in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio requesting information on missing persons, as well as the Department of Homeland Security.

UPDATE: Kentucky State Police are investigating the body of a white female who was found in the Ohio River today near Owensboro. The Kentucky State Police was notified around 9:30 this morning of a body floating in the Ohio River near Little Hurricane Boat Ramp outside the city limits of Owensboro. A barge company working the Ohio River spotted the body and notified authorities. Emergency crews launched a smaller boat to retrieve the body, which was found roughly 100 yards from the Little Hurricane boat ramp.

The female is estimated to be between 30 and 50 years old. No other identifiers were given.

An autopsy is scheduled for the unknown female tomorrow morning in Louisville.

More to follow as it becomes available.

The investigation in on-going

[Original post:]

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office recovered a male body from the Ohio River between Troy, Indiana, and Owensboro Wednesday afternoon.

Indiana State Police also recovered an unidentified female body earlier in the day at Troy, Indiana.

Both bodies appear to be middle aged. The female has distinct tattoos.

It is unknown if the two cases are related, but there is a possibility.

DCSO says an autopsy will be performed on the male today by the Medical Examiner in Louisville.

Authorities are also reporting a third body found.

We will keep you posted.
