Adoption Support for Kentucky (ASK) Two Rivers Region has a support group designed especially for adoptive parents. Groups are open to all adoptive parents: public, private, international and kinship care. ASK also welcomes all foster parents and others interested in adoption. Refreshments and childcare available.
Samantha Wilson, who is also a parent leader, is available for ongoing support through phone calls, emails and one-on-one meetings.
“Training hours are provided at all ASK meetings, but even if you don’t need training hours you will greatly benefit by attending these training and support meetings,” Wilson said.
Trainings are important to help foster/adoptive/kinship parents be the best parents possible to children that have been abused, neglected or experienced some form of trauma. Wilson says adoptive parents’ experience as resource parents is “extremely important at these meetings also,” and she hopes that many will participate so that “we can all learn from each other.”
