Visit Owensboro is stepping up to the plate and will host a master calendar on its website for events occurring in Owensboro and the rest of Daviess County. Visit Owensboro is actively seeking events that are open to the public with an emphasis on tourism. Unique fundraisers that could attract visitors to Owensboro are included.
“When there’s something entertaining going on in our city and county, we want people to turn to us to find out about it. We are launching a new website this year so the timing for this opportunity couldn’t be better,” said Mark Calitri, Visit Owensboro President & CEO.
Several organizations already submit events to Visit Owensboro to put on the website calendar, but this approach will expand the calendar and provide new opportunities for organizations to get the word out about their event.
“One of the greatest benefits to this new service is hopefully this will cut down on people double booking their events and fundraisers. I can’t tell you how many people have told me, I wish I would have known another organization was having their big event the same night of ours; we would have rescheduled it,” said Dave Kirk, Visit Owensboro Destination Management.
If you’re already submitting your organization’s event, please keep doing that practice, but please make sure your submitting the event to the correct email. To submit an event, email:
In the email, please include:
- Name of Event
- Organization Hosting Event
- Venue
- Date
- Time
- Picture if possible (could be a logo)
- Cost, if applicable
The criteria for events that will appear on the calendar are:
-Any person can attend the event (21+ is fine).
-It can be a free or paid event.
-It should appeal to a wide audience.
“I don’t want people to get discouraged if their event isn’t put on the calendar. Since Visit Owensboro is hosting the calendar, we will have to make some tough decisions about if the event meets the criteria to fall on the calendar. Please keep coming up with unique events and submit those to us,” added Calitri.
“The earlier you can submit your event to us, the better. That way we can get it out there and it will allow other organizations to not double book with their event,” added Kirk.
