On June 9 the Owensboro community is invited to a one-of-a-kind music festival — the location? The heart of Owensboro, transforming front porches throughout the Griffith Avenue area between Frederica Street and Robin Road into concert stages.
Here’s the concept for PorchFest OBKY:
- It’s completely free to the public.
- Neighbors on Griffith Avenue have agreed to be “Porch Hosts” and convert their beautiful, spacious porches, in this architecturally inspiring area, into “stages” for the afternoon. Their inviting front yards will be open for music listeners to bring their own chairs and sit and enjoy the show.
- PorchFest OBKY invites the audience to stroll freely from “stage” to “stage,” enjoying great musical talent, without worrying about a ticket or a seat (you are encouraged to bring your own lawn chair)
- Ready for a different tune? Simply pick up your chairs and take a short walk to find another welcoming “stage” and seating.
PorchFest OBKY 2018 will celebrate community togetherness and music. This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages. PorchFest will focus on highlighting the friendly neighborhood and local musical talent.
Owensboro and the surrounding region are home to some of the most accomplished musicians, from guitarists, percussionists, violinists and more to songwriters and talented vocalists. You can expect to hear original music as well as interpretations of releases from other artists.
PorchFest will run from 3 – 9 p.m. A full line up of artists and the site map for the event, which will include the various stages, artists, sponsors and vendors will be released soon.
