A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans upgrades along sections of New Hartford Road/KY 2155 and Frederica Street/KY 2831 in Owensboro starting today, Friday, June 16, 2017, to be followed by paving later.
Motorists should be alert for construction activity at the following locations:
- KY 2155/New Hartford Road from the US 60 Overpass at milepoint 0.0 extending northward to milepoint 0.21 just north East Byers Avenue.
- KY 2831/Frederica Street from milepoint 1.176 at the Sherm Road intersection extending northward to milepoint 3.056 at the West 5th Street intersection, a distance of 1.88 miles.
The contractor plans to remove old sidewalk connections and replace them with ADA-compliant ramps at the intersection crosswalks starting today.
Some side streets may have temporary lane restrictions along the project limits during this phase of work. Some delays are possible during the movement and positioning of equipment to facilitate the work. This sidewalk work is expected to take about 8 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Once the new sidewalk connections are completed, the contractor will schedule milling and paving at these locations.
Yager Materials, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $1,099.352 highway improvement project.
Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
