Steel trusses have been raised on the Owensboro Daviess County Tennis Association’s new indoor tennis facility being constructed at Shifley Park. The plans call for 6 indoor courts and 9 outdoor courts with room for 3 more if additional funds are raised. Groundbreaking and dedication of the facility were held on April 25th and the completion date is tentatively set for December 15th.
The Owensboro Daviess County Tennis Association is also pleased to announce the hiring of Josh Whitman as Director of Tennis. Josh will be relocating from Dayton where he was Director of Junior Tennis at Five Seasons Sports Club. He will start operating the Executive Racquet Club on October 6th and will then transition to the brand new Owensboro/Daviess County Tennis Association Tennis Facility later this year. Josh has a Professional Tennis Management Degree from Tyler Junior College. Josh’s other coaching highlights include 2 time HTA Davis Cup, 2 time Wightman Cup, 2 time USTA Midwest National 12’s Zonal and USPTA Player Development Coach.
