“This is really a way to promote small business in Owensboro by doing some cross promotion with Studio Slant and Midtown Gourmet Specialties,” said Jenny Barbour, Sales Associate at Green River Appliances and Furniture, explaining the idea behind Ladies Night Out. “Ladies can come in, shop, have some fun, eat and enjoy a night out, all in one place.”
Green River Appliance is hosting the event in their showroom at 1130 JR Miller Blvd. The furniture in the middle section of the showroom floor will be cleared out so Studio Slant can set up a table for art supplies and Midtown Gourmet Specialties can display food samples.
All of this will take place Thursday, August 20th at 7pm. “For $35, the ladies get to come in and paint. They get to keep their canvas and enjoy hors d’oeuvres from Midtown Gourmet Specialties,” Barbour said. Green River will offer special discounts that night and Midtown Gourmet will bring items for sale as well.
Barbour says they can accommodate between 35-40 ladies. So far, 20 have already RSVPd.
This is the first of several seasonal events that Green River Appliance is planning to help promote “shopping small” in Owensboro. Next, “we’re looking at doing an open house at Christmas and a parking lot event in the spring,” Barbour said.
