In response to the impending layoffs at Century Aluminum, along with others seeking employment in the area, the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation is hosting a job fair Saturday, October 24th from 10am-2pm at the RiverPark Center (101 Daviess Street.)
“With the Holidays coming up, we wanted to meet that need immediately,” explained ECD Vice President Patty Osborne. “That’s why we put this job fair together on such short notice.”
The EDC reached out to those Century employees who will be laid off and also used social media to get the word out.
Osborne says the goal is to match job seekers with employers. “We have a wide range of employers coming, everything from small businesses to large corporations.” In total, there will be 18-20 employers at the fair.
Job seekers are encouraged to bring resumes.
Door prizes will be given away, including an iPad Mini.
