Hot Doughnuts… Soon

What’s better than a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut right off the conveyor belt?

Living in Owensboro, our best way to get “Hot Doughnuts NOW” is to travel the 23.8 miles to Evansville, 66.4 miles to Bowling Green, 76.97 miles to Louisville, or 83.39 miles to Clarksville, TN (this according to the map on KrispyKreme.com.)

But that could soon change.

A store manager at the Evansville Krispy Kreme told OwensboroLiving.com that Krispy Kreme is looking to open a store in Owensboro. Those plans are not finalized yet, and a location has not been chosen, but they have scouted out some different places around town.

My vote is South Frederica, but they probably won’t ask me.

OwensboroLiving.com will keep you updated as plans progress.

In the meantime, you may want to start planning ahead for the grand opening – whenever that may be.

Here’s why:

Typically, when a Krispy Kreme opens, the first 100 people in line “receive a punch card for free doughnuts for one year,” (this again is according to KrispyKreme.com.) But the first person in line gets the honor and privilege of being the very first person to turn on the “Hot Doughnuts NOW” sign. In order to be eligible, you have to be registered before getting in line and remain in line until the store actually opens. Which is why die hard doughnut fans camp out. In fact, the “grand opening event” usually starts at 6pm the night before the grand opening and registration usually begins at 3pm.

I’m getting my camping gear ready!
