DETAILS: The Green River District Health Department is holding immunization clinics for Owensboro/Daviess County students to receive required immunizations for the 2018-19 school year. New immunization requirements mandate ALL students have two doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine before the start of the school year.
The two-dose series requires six months between doses and these clinics allow students to complete the vaccine prior the start of the school year.
Vaccines for students whose families meet eligibility requirements are administered through the Vaccine for Children Program. This program offers vaccines to Medicaid or MCO’s, those without health insurance, the underinsured, American Indians and Alaskan Natives. Fees for the vaccination are calculated on a sliding scale; however, the maximum out-of-pocket expense would be $40. To receive the vaccinations at another clinic or office, costs could reach $200 plus the cost of the visit.
Students with health insurance that covers vaccinations are not eligible for the Vaccination for Children Program and need to make an appointment with their primary care physician. If a student has not received a vaccine from the Health Department previously, they should bring their immunization record to their appointment.
