IMPACT 100 Owensboro, a community of women that seeks to transform lives in the Greater Owensboro area through high-impact and lifelong giving, will award $100,000 grants to two of the finalists at it’s annual meeting on October 23. The nonwinning finalists will receive residual grants of $10,666.66 each. The finalists are:

Owensboro Symphony Orchestra
Project: HeartStrings

The HeartStrings program would offer at-risk children at Girls Inc. and Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club the chance to learn how to play a string instrument from a highly trained and skilled Suzuki instructor. The free program could change the lives of hundreds of low income kids.

Girls Inc.
Project: Impacting Safe Travels

This project would replace aging and unreliable vans which transport girls to the Girls Inc. programs with 2 new vans. It also will entail the implementation of the Girls Under the Hood and in the Driver’s Seat program which will be offerred to girls and their mothers.

Friends of Audubon
Project: Trail Maintenance

This project would upgrade and add signage to the 10 hiking trails within the 700-acre natural preserve of the Audubon State Park. Development of 7 miles of handicap accessible hiking trails in the Audubon Wetlands area recently acquired by the Friends is also included.

Project: Family Branch Improvement Project

This project will add a multi-purpose room, expand the 2nd floor game room, provide a new commons area and additional space for the exercise room.

Project: Lighthouse Safe Harbor Campus

The grant will allow renovation, maintenance and upgrades to the campus. It will also provide staff with the tools they need to best serve their clients.
