You know that curved section of the bypass between Frederica and Old Hartford? That’s one of my favorite spots to notice the leaves changing. Probably because I drive it so much. I like to notice how they’re different from day to day, and today they were just about perfect.
In the next week the leaves ought to be at their prime. This year I’m really making an effort to slow down and take notice, so today I paused to take it in. It got me thinking about other places in Owensboro/Daviess County that are especially pretty when the leaves are changing. The Greenbelt. Griffith Avenue. The Fernhill neighborhood behind Ben Hawes. That stretch of 231 past OCTC before you get to Masonville.
There’s a lot of beauty surrounding us if we’ll just take the time to notice. This year, let’s not be too busy.
What are your favorite drives this time of year?
