If you’re looking for a cool place to be on Labor Day, the City of Owensboro’s Edge Ice Center will be open this Monday, September 7, from noon to 4 p.m. for a special Labor Day public skating session.
A holiday rate of only $3 per person will be offered, which includes admission and skate rental. There are no spectator fees for parents and/or guardians wishing to take advantage of the spacious off-ice area that includes free Wi-Fi and flat screen televisions. Bring your family and friends and join the fun at the coolest place in town.
The Edge Ice Center, conveniently located next to the Owensboro Sportscenter, also offers birthday parties, learn-to-skate lessons, private rentals, and group rates. However, Dugan Best Recreation Center will be closed on Labor Day, September 7, 2015. Regular “school is in session” hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.
Located at 1003 Omega Street, the center’s amenities include a gymnasium, a game room complete with pool tables, foosball, table tennis, and air hockey; a fitness room; and computer stations. Games and activities will be scheduled daily.
Anyone less than 8 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 17 or older. There is no charge to use the center.
Normal operating hours while schools are in session are as follows:
· Monday – Friday – 2:30 to 7 p.m.
· Saturday – noon to 8 p.m.
· Sunday – Closed
