The Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools is hoping a lot of people are in the mood for a beach party.
“We are still trying to find our signature event, and we hope this is it,” said Vicky Quisenberry, Executive Director of the Foundation. The foundation has tried an awards ceremony and a 3K in the past. This year, they’re throwing a luau-themed party with great food and live music.
The Luau Fun’raiser, presented by Specialty Food Groups, will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Reid’s Orchard (4812 KY 144). “Reid’s is the only place we considered to have the luau,” Quisenberry said. “The Reid’s are a DCPS family and they have always been supportive. They’re very easy to work with.”
The SunBurners, a Cincinnati beach party band, will be performing throughout the evening. Moonlite catering has created a special Luau menu and will be tending bar. “We’re also working with Glenn Family Farms to roast a pig,” Vicky said.
Proceeds from The Luau Fun’Raiser will be used to provide educational enhancement opportunities for more than 11,700 K-12 DCPS children in 18 schools. Reservations are requested on or before July 24th. The public and local businesses are invited to purchase tickets, tables and sponsorships for the event.
“The Luau will be a relaxed, entertaining evening that will be fun for attendees and a great way for a variety of our community friends to support educational enhancements for students,” said Quisenberry.
Advanced tickets are $45 per person. A table for 8 may be purchased for $350. Sponsorships are still available. A small number of tickets will be sold at the door for $55 per person. Tickets include dinner, two drink tickets, live band and dinner entertainment.
The event is designed for attendees who are 21 years of age and over.
The Apollo Class of 1990 will be celebrating their 25th reunion at The Luau. If other classes are interested in celebrating a reunion at the Luau, please call the Foundation at your earliest convenience.
