The City swimming pools are getting ready to open for the 2016 summer swim season. Combest and Cravens Pools will both open on Saturday, May 28 from noon to 6 p.m.
The pools will remain open daily, barring inclement weather days.
Cravens Pool is located at 2815 Cravens Ave, Owensboro, KY 42301.
Combest Pool is located at 1530 Mc Johnson Ave, Owensboro, KY 42303.
Hours of Operation are listed below for both pools:
Monday through Friday……………………………………….Noon-4:30 p.m.
Night Swim-Tuesdays and Thursdays, (Cravens ONLY)……7-9 p.m.
Saturday………………………………………………………………Noon-6 p.m.
Sunday…………………………………………………………………1-5 p.m.
Admission is $3 (Children under 2 free)
Groups (10 or more) $2.75
Admission for night swims (Cravens ONLY) $3
Learn to Swim Lessons at Combest Pool
Dive into the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Department’s Learn to swim program. Lessons begin June 13 for children five years of age and older.
Four week-long sessions will take place throughout the summer; the deadline to register for Session 1 (June 13-17) is June 3. Classes begin at 9:15a.m. and 10:15a.m.
Cost is $45. Fee includes:
- 45 minutes of instruction
- 15 minutes of free swim
- Edge Ice Center passes & free swimming on Saturdays at either pool location

Aquasize Classes at Combest Pool
Start your day off right with the Owensboro Parks and Recreation Aquasize Aerobic Class. This class consists of aerobic routines, stretching, and toning performed in chest/shoulder deep water. The resistance from the water gives a first-rate workout. No swimming skills necessary.
Participants must be sixteen years or older. The Aquasize class will take place at Combest Pool. Classes meet on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – noon. Registration fee is $38 per person, per session.
- Session I is from June 10 thru June 25 (Registration deadline May 27)
- Session II is from July 8 thru July 23. (Registration deadline June 24)
