Back Alley Musicals will hold auditions for the February musical production, The Marvelous Wonderettes, on Sunday, Nov. 20, from 2 – 4 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 21, from 6 -8 p.m. at Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, 1225 W. 3rd St., Owensboro, KY.
The Marvelous Wonderettes is a musical comedy that pays homage to the high school girl song leader squads of the 1950’s. The story begins on prom night in 1958 at Springfield High School when the four young ladies are called upon as a last-minute replacement for the evening’s entertainment. They entertain not only by singing classic songs of that era, but also through their interactions with one another and the other prom-goers. Laura Staffeld is the director/choreographer for the show and Pam Howell is the music director.
Auditions will be held for the characters of Missy, Cindy Lou, Suzy, and Betty Jean. The female characters range in age from 18 – 28. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing music parts for those characters which they are interested in portraying. Music for each of those parts is available on the BAM website at backalleymusicals.net . A keyboard accompanist will be available during auditions. Music and lyrics are by various artists and the book is by Roger Bean.
Dates for the production are Feb. 23-26, 2017, in the Jody Berry Theatre, RiverPark Center.
